
MOODBIDRI: In a tragic incident reported from Maranthabettu near Kallamundkur on Monday afternoon, a pillion rider of a bike lost his life after he was thrown out of the vehicle and fell into a nearby well due to the impact of the bike’s collision with a roadside drain.
The deceased has been identified as Shravan (16), a worker in a hotel nearby and a resident of Kaudur near Bailur of Karkala taluk. Two others in the bike namely Ashok and Avinash, who too fell into a roadside ditch following the accident, have been admitted to Wenlock Hospital in Mangalore.
It is learnt the mishap occurred when shopkeepers including employees of Hotel Ashok of Karkala Bye-pass road were on their way to Kateel Temple after the Lakshmi Pooja in their respective establishments, in four bikes.
Shravan was accompanied by Ashok who was riding the bike and Avinash. The attempts made by locals to rescue Shravan proved futile. Moodbidri police are conducting the investigations.
