BANGALORE : If reports are to be believed, State Minister for Panchayatraj and Rural Development Shobha Karandlaje is on the way of taking over the mantle of State BJP leadership making her the first lady president of the state BJP.
It is learnt Shobha’s name has already been included in the list in the backdrop of the election to the state BJP chief to be held on December 15. A clear picture in this regard is expected to emerge in a few days.
Already the demand for the State BJP Presidentship is on the rise as the candidate assuming this post, would be leading the party during the next assembly elections. A tussle is also underway in the party for the same and already CT Ravi, Aravind Limbavali and Vijayshanker are said to be in the race. It is being observed that the chances of Shobha rising to the top post was much more as there is still confusion in the BJP camp over electing any one of the other three leaders to the post.
Shobha too had attended the meeting held at a hotel at Malleshwaram on Thursday y to discuss this aspect. The meting was attended among others by Chief Minister BS Yaddyurappa and his cabinet colleagues. Later there was another meeting at the Canara Union Auditorium under the leadership of the sitting state BJP President DV Sadananda Gowda and other office bears. However, Shobha has so far remained tightlipped on this issue. It is being said that Shobha. a postgraduate in social work, who has secured the rural development and panchayatraj portfolio as per her wish, is presently in a fix whether to carry on as a minister or accept the State BJP Presidentship.
