MANGALORE: Even as the number of murders committed by the cyanide killer Kanyana Mohan Kumar are likely to go up, police officials say the chances of his getting stringent punishment were slim as it would be a tough task for the cops to prove in the court several cases of murders reported in the past.
Just as the cops arrested Kanyana Mohan Kumar and registered a case against him after he admitted to having lured and murdered 18 girls, yet another case came to light. The FIR of the cops states that the killer Mohan by luring girls and persuading them to elope, then took them to some other district, sexually exploited them and eliminated them through cyanide.
The cops will now have to prove the FIR and charge sheet in the court and will have to produce before the court all evidences and witnesses for all these murders. They will need to gather evidences on the relationship between the deceased women and Mohan, medical reports that they had sexual relation, and several other evidences to prove that Mohan was in the company of the women. Moreover it is said, it would also be a tough task to prove that it was Mohan himself who had taken the girl who was missing, as per the complaint lodged with the police. Even the possibilities of him giving his actual name in the lodges where he might have stayed, are remote.
Police officials also say it may be difficult to prove as murder, cases which have been already registered as suicide.
