Head scarf row : Students complain to VC

MANGALORE : Twenty seven female Muslim students of the Bantwal Govenrment First Grade Dollege have complaind to the Vice Chancellor of Mangalore University that ” Students affiliated to the BJP Parivar were ragging them daily for wearing scarf to the college.”
The students complained to the VC after their complaint to the college principal failed to yield any result. A complaint has also been made to the Bantwal Legislator Ramanath Rai . It is learnt,the MLA has convened a meeting of the college board on November 5 in view of the complaint.
When Rai was contacted on the issue of the complaint wherein the students have said that they were being harassed over the head scarf issue even when there was no dress code in the college, Rai said he had received a complaint and added educational institutions should function in such a mnner that they do not hurt the religious sentiments of students of any community.
Meanwhile, the SIO has urged the Vice Chancellor to immediately interevene and settle the issue.
