MANGALORE : The State Information Commission has not only penalized the Mangalore City
Corporation for causing delay in furnishing information sought by an applicant under the RTI,
but has also instructed the MCC Commissioner to initiate stern action against the information
officer concerned.

The Commission which has also taken exception to the failure of the Commissioner to personally
appear for the Commission?s hearing, has warned him against abstaining from hearing in the
future.

MCC Information Officer R Meghana has been censured by the Commission for the delay in
furnishing information and has also been served a show cause notice.
