MANGALORE : Mangalore is a fast growing city. It’s population is burgeoning so is the density of vehicles on the road. High-rise buildings are coming up in every nook and corner of the city. But what about the much needed private bus stand of Mangalore? Sad to say, it’s condition is chaotic. The authorities have still not bothered much about the inconveniences caused to the general public due to this chaotic bus stand.
The service bus, express buses and KSRTC buses which arrive in this bus stand, then park haphazardly posing a lot of problems to people who come to board buses here. Moreover, there is even no such rule that buses of a particular route are to be parked at a particular spot.Any outsider visiting this bus stand will be utterly confused owing to the situation prevailing here.
To add to it is the foul smell of fish emanating from the nearby fish market. That’s not all. Even the public lavatory in the bus stand, is unfit for use, with no effort made to maintain it. This in turn has forced many to answer nature’s call in the open here further worsening the condition. Our authorities boast that Mangalore is an emerging economic hub. But isn’t it pathetic to note that the bus stand of this emerging economic hub has still not been developed to keep pace with the time and the increasing number of commuters as well as buses ?
