PADUBIDRI : The controversial Nagarjuna thermal power plant (Now Udupi Power Corporation Ltd) has once again proved that it was anti-people. Today, the wrong policies pursued by the company has deprived villagers of Ermal of drinking water. Already, the local Tenka Panchayat has instructed the company authorities to take early steps to set right the problem.
It is said the company while laying trenches to lay pipelines to let the industrial waste into the sea , though had taken precaution to see that the telephone cables were not harmed, however in the process had damaged several drinking water supply pipelines, thereby depriving nearly 50 families of Ermal of water supply.
The repeated appeal of the villagers to the company to set right the problem proved futile forcing the local panchayat President and Secretary to visit the spot and instruct the company authorities to set right the problem immediately.
Villagers complain that even a road has been damaged due to the pipeline works and have urged the district administration to suitably warn the company.
