Bus stoned at Vamanjoor

Posted on Nov 17th, 2009 and filed under General.

MANGALORE : The Vishal Travels bus operating on the Mangalore-Moodbidri route was stoned by unidentified assailants at Kettikal near Vamanjoor on Monday night, just as the area was returning to normalcy following Sunday’s incident wherein three Muslim students of the Vamadapadavu college were attacked by Bhajrangdal activists for travelling with Hindu female students.
The bus driver sustained serious injuries in the incident. However the presence of mind of the driver in not losing control over the vehicle even when it was stoned averted a major mishap as otherwise the bus would have rolled into the nearby gorge.
Meanwhile, Panambur DySP Girish when contacted said “Vamanjoor is peaceful. Though there is information that a bus has been stoned, so far there has been no police complaint. There is no information or complaint even from the bus crew or the injured.”
