Posted on Jan 28th, 2012 and filed under General.

UDUPI : Udupi District Raitha Sangha president Vijaykumar Hegde has declared that villagers

residing in nine gram panchayat limits in the vicinity of UPCL plant have decided to boycott

the ensuing elections to the Udupi-Chikmagalur LS constituency, fed up with the apathy of the

officials to the problems of the people affected by the UPCL plant.

Speaking to reporters, he said the people were shocked over the proposal to allow UPCL to use

the Shambhavi river water and complained that the chief minister has not fulfilled any of the

assurance given by him to the Pejawar seer.

? Today there is a fear in the minds of the people if the CM would be able to protect the interests

of the state when he has failed to protect the people of his home constituency itself. He also

called upon Udupi Minister VS Acharya to refrain from issuing false statements.

Hegde said nearly 75, 000 voters from nine GP limits in Ellur, Mudarangady, Uchila, Inna,

Palimar, Tenka Ermal, Padubidri, Belapu and Hejamady will boycott the polls.
