UDUPI : Bhajrangdal activists who raided a room at Kunjibettu following information that a young pair belonging to different communities had been staying there since the past one month, trapped the pair and handed them over to the Udupi town police.
It is learnt, Rameez, a resident of near the Padubidri Jumma Masjid and a student of Manipal Junior College, was residing with Bhagavathi, a young woman of Kerala origin in the room since the past one month.
Earlier, when Rameez was residing at Ambalpady, he had lodged the girl in his room in Hotel Panchami building.
Though he had secured the room saying he needed it for his sister, he had instead brought Bhagavathi to that room. The locals on suspicion had informed the Hindu organisation.
The police have left the pair after suitably warning them. Bhagavathi has been entrusted to the custody of her family. She is learnt to be a nursing student.
