MANGALORE : “There is no much difference between Hinduism and Islam. Still an eveninger named Jayakirana in one of its reports has tried to argue that my marrying a Muslim itself was wrong,” regretted Ramya, the wife of the Ayyappa Vrithadhari Muslim youth Shameer who is in much news after he has been threatened by some Muslim organisations.
Ramya who arrived at the Karavali Ale office on Sunday said ” If Karavali Ale and all other state and national level dailies had published positive reports of my marriage with a Muslim man and his being an Ayyappa devotee, only Jayakirana has published hypothetical reports. I married Shameer knowing fully well that he is a Muslim.”
According to Ramya her father was earlier a prominent Bhajrangdal leader. When she married Shameer she was just 19. Soon after their marriage both the families refused to accept them. They began to lead a life in a small rented room near Tokkottu. After Ramya delivered a baby boy, both the families had invited them and Ramya had later set foot into her husband’s house. She has followed Islamic traditions in her husband’s house while she followed Hindu traditions in her parental home. If Ramya was Rayeesha in her husband’s house, her husband Sameer became Ganesh whenever he visited his in-laws’ place, Ramya informed.
Ramya also expressed her anguish over the Jayakirana report which she said had mentioned that Shameer had become an Ayyappa Vrithadhari for the sake of fun. She clarified that Shameer has been a true Ayyappa Vrithadhari and was strictly adhering to the conditions laid down for Ayyappa Vrithadharis
