HUBLI : Former minister Shobha Karandlaje quietly vacated the tourist bungalow where she was staying here, no sooner she gathered news that Jagadish Shettar who has replaced her as the rural development and panchayatraj minister, would be visiting the place. This incident took place on Monday.
Shobha who is on a tour of north Karnataka, was staying at the tourist bungalow here after she arrived from Bijapur. Though she is now an ex-minister, several women leaders of the party had arrived to meet her and to express their sympathies. Shobha who was interacting with the ladies soon came to know that Jagadish Shettar would be arriving there.
Shobha even avoided the pressmen present there who wanted to speak to her saying ” I have already said what I had to say” and left the venue. Soon all the ladies present there were missing.
When Shobha’s car reached the bungalow gate, it was greeted by the cars in which Shettar and Suresh Kumar arrived. But Shobha’s car zoomed forth without bothering much.
It is widely believed that Shobha who had lost her portfolio to Shettar thanks to the pressure mounted by the Reddys did not want to be face to face with Shettar and so quietly left the place to avoid any embarrassment.
Reddy vents ire against Shobha : Meanwhile, Revenue Minister Karunaker Reddy has reacted sharply to Shobha’s statement that she would submit a report on the loopholes in the flood relief works after visiting North Karnataka, and has challenged Shobha to quit her legislatorship and work as a social worker, if she had real concern for the flood affected people.
Speaking to reporters at Harapanahalli, Reddy said ” Let Shobha first review the loopholes in the works undertaken in her constituency. She by interfering in matters pertaining to constituencies unrelated to her has embarrassed the legislators of those constituencies.” “Let Shobha first correct herself,” Reddy said.
