Fire in Kalladka Vidya Kendra

Posted on Dec 12th, 2009 and filed under General.

BANTWAL : Goods worth several lakhs of rupees were gutted in a fire mishap in the Shishu Mandir and Dhyana Kendra of Kalladka Sri Rama Vidya Kendra on Thursday night. Though the fire is said to be accidental, suspicion is looming large that this might have been the handiwork of some miscreants. The roofs of the two mandirs which were made of bamboo have been gutted in the mishap. Students who were inside the two buildings when the mishap took place, were safely evacuated, a teacher of the Kendra informed.
Though locals extended timely aid in extinguishing the fire before the fire service vehicle could arrive, the two mandirs were completely destroyed by then. The loss has been estimated at Rs 15 lakhs.
Interestingly, the fire first seen in the Shishu Mandir spread only to the Dhyana Kendra while sparing the 22 similar Kuteeras.
The Vidya Kendra President Narayana Somayaji has lodged a complaint with the Bantwal police.
