BANGALORE : It has been reliably learnt that the Congress was chalking out a strategy to form an alternative government under the leadership of the AICC General Secretary Oscar Fernandes in case of the downfall of the BJP government following the internal crisis which has cropped up again.
The Congress leadership which is sure that the BJP government would witness a downfall in early January, has selected Oscar as a consensus candidate in order to avoid any tussle for the top post. Even the Congress leadership in the state is of the firm belief that none may oppose Oscar’s selection for the top post, he being a leader who is capable of moving ahead taking everyone into confidence.
Though the JD(S) has already agreed to back the Congress and has even conveyed the message that it wouldn’t have any objection to Siddaramaiah becoming the CM, the Congress leadership is all likely to oppose Siddaramaiah as the CM. Though even senior leader and union minister may be in the race for the top post the Siddaramaiah loyalists may not allow the same,
Already the over 20 legislators who have turned up against the government have almost arrived at a conclusion that there were no chances of the government conceding to their demands and are all likely to identify themselves either with the Congress or the JD(S).
