MANGALORE: The State High Court which took up for hearing the habeas corpus writ filed seeking to trace Ramya Shetty of Naringana who is missing, has directed that the case diary on the allegation that Ramya has been forcibly converted into Islam, be produced before the court.
The Divisional Bench led by Justice KL Manjunath which heard the habeas corpus writ filed by Shivaprasad Shetty, the brother of Ramya, has expressed its displeasure over the police investigation into the case so far. Stating that the police have not thoroughly investigated the complaint lodged by Shivaprasad, directed the Konaje police that the investigating officer himself produced the case diary before the court on December 29.
Shivaprasad in his writ had said that Mohammad, a father of two had kidnapped his sister and had converted her and that there was a possibility of this being a Love Jihad case. He also directed that his sister be traced and produced before the court.
The Konaje SI Sunil G Patil had filed a nine-page report on the steps taken by the investigating team to trace Ramya Shetty. However the court has rejected this report.
