MANGALORE : The State Information Commission has served a show cause notice to the public information officer and the assistant registrar of the DK District Consumer Disputes Redressal Forum who are facing the charges of misplacing public records.
B Prakash Bhat, a resident of Kodialbail had submitted 13 applications under the Right to Information Act seeking information pertaining to records of a building being constructed for the Consumer Forum, since June. Bhat through the RTI wanted to know about the amount remitted to the DK Nirmithi Kendra which had raised the construction.
But when there was no reply from the Assistant Registrar of the Forum for several months, Bhat had directly complained to the State Information Commission. Responding to a summons from the Commission, the Forum Registrar AH Bijapur said the documents sought were presently unavailable as they had been misplaced.
The State Information Commission which considered the Registrar’s reply quite seriously, served a notice to The District Consumer Disputes Redressal Forum asking it to investigate and submit a report regarding the misplacement of the documents.
