Govt spends Rs 4.5 on cars for ministers, officials!

BANGALORE :  It has been learnt that the BS Yeddyurappa led government in Karnataka which is time and again lamenting that the government was facing a financial crunch, has however spent a staggering Rs 4.5 crores towards the purchase of  luxurious cars for its ministers and senior IAS officers in the last one and a half year period.

A report has revealed that the amount was spent between May 2008 and November 2009 to purchase cars for a total of 28 ministers and over 24 senior officers. Not only that, the government has spent Rs 1.5 crore alone for the repair and other maintenance works of these cars.

To top it all, Chief Minister BS Yeddyurappa is himself criticized as one of the most extravagant chief minister the state has seen. He is reported to have spent crores for his helicopter tour and also for his bedroom renovation.
