Man drives out newly wed wife

UDUPI: An incident in which a person by colluding with his family members drove away his newly married wife, after attacking and threatening to kill her, has been reported from Neelavara in Brahmavar police station limits.
The accused has been identified as Sumanth Hegde, a resident of Kemtur in Udupi. He, it is learnt had a registered marriage with Pragathi Mendon of Neelavara on December 21. Since marriage Sumanth stayed at his wife’s house itself. As per a complaint lodged by Pragathi with Brahmavar police, ‘ Fifteen days ago, Sumanth Hegde, along with Manjunath Hegde, Sulochana and Sushma attacked her saying she belonged to a different caste and should not enter their house.”
