KASARGOD: Fifteen year old girl Riyana who was reported missing since last May has surprisingly been traced in a remand home at Punaloor in Kollam district.
Reports said Riyana who was seen moving around aimlessly in Punaloor was admitted to the remand home. However it is still not known how she reached Punaloor.
State Inspector General of Police has informed that Riyana would be handed over to the Kerala Crime Branch on Sunday.
If Riyana was missing on May 18, 2009, her mother Fauzia had lodged a police complaint only three months later. However, when investigations did not make any headway, Fauzia had launched an agitation near the Kasargod bus stand area for 100 days since September 22. Various organizations too had staged protest demanding that Riyana be traced at the earliest. Now everyone has heaved a sigh of relief, with the mysterious case ending on a happy note.
