KASARGOD: Mystery still shrouds the case of the missing of a minor girl called Riyana months ago, and her tracing recently. Riyana who was brought to Kasargod on Monday has been admitted to the Government women’s remand home at Paravandka.
Tight security arrangements have been made at the remand home. Riyana was brought here early in the morning when no one was around, Meanwhile, hundreds had gathered outside the remand home later in the day on gathering news that Riyana would be brought here.
She will be produced before the High Court on January 15 when the facts regarding this case may come to light. Meanwhile, her mother Fauzia while stating that the remand home was not safe for her daughter has urged the authorities to take steps to provide her immediate treatment as she seems to be mentally disturbed.
Riyana was reported missing since May 18 under mysterious circumstances and the mystery still continues. Her mother had lodged a police complaint  only three days after Riyana went missing.
On June 1 the girl was found near Kollam railway station following which she was admitted to the Gandhibhavan orphanage by a police personnel. However, police have no records in this regard. Then she had told that she had escaped from her employer and that she was working as a maid and hailed from Kasargod. Interestingly, the police in Kollam were not aware of the Riyana missing case and her being admitted to the orphanage at Kollam.
It is learnt last Saturday, the orphanage authorities had themselves telephoned Riyana’s house. The girl who spoke over phone seemed to be terrified and when her mother rushed to Kollam the girl was found to be ill.
Then where was Riyana for 12 days after she left home ?. Who left her at Kollam? Why did she not give the telephone number of her house until now? As of now no answers are found to these questions.
The girl was subject to medical examination on Monday and it is learnt that the examination has revealed that she had not been sexually abused.
