MANGALORE: One person sustained serious injuries in a clash that ensued between two groups in connection with a Duff programme at the Tokur masjid in Mulki Police station limits on Tuesday.
The injured Ashraf (34), a resident of Tokur, has been admitted to the hospital. It is learnt Ashraf had been attacked for the sole reason that he had requested to stop the Duff programme organized by a localite named Muneer Karnad.
It is learnt, on Monday night the Duff team had been to the residence of Ashraf to hold the programme when Ashraf objected saying it would disturb the neighbours. Following this, Muneer and others barged into Ashraf’s house and had attacked him. Then the case was settled through talks by the masjid secretary.
But on Tuesday evening, when Ashraf was offering namaz at the mosque, a group of around 30 persons attacked him and his friends. Ashraf was seriously injured while the rest sustained minor injures.
Mulki police have registered a case.
