BANTWAL: In a ghastly road accident involving a car and a lorry reported from Poorlippady near Kalladka on the National Highway 48 on the afternoon of August 26, a woman and her son were killed and five others sustained serious injuries. It has been learnt the Maruti Swift car collided head on with the lorry carrying iron rods.
The deceased have been identified as Susheela (55) of Ramakunja Kuntur near Uppinangady and her son Balasubrahmanya (30). Their relatives Rajeevi, Vinaya and Lalitha were also injured in this accident. While Balasubrahmanya who was driving the Maruti Swift car died on the spot, Susheela breathed her last enroute hospital.
The front of the car has been badly mangled due to the impact of the collision.
Police have arrested the lorry driver Darpanna and have seized the lorry.
