“ Kaveriappa, Vishweshwar Bhat connived to target SC lecturer”

MANGALORE : It has come to light of late the erstwhile Mangalore University Vice Chancellor Kaveriappa and the Vijaya Karnataka Editor Vishweshwar Bhat had been a part of the conspiracy to drive out Umeshchandra, a Lecturer in the post-graduate department of Mangalore University.
Umeshchandra says the then vice chancellor who had neglected two separate complaints lodged by him on 2-12-2009 and 9-12-2009 on the attempts made by another lecturer of the department along with the Vijaya Karnataka Editor, to turn students against him, instead had tried to initiate disciplinary action against Umeshchandra himself by taking to the Syndicate the matter pertaining to the complaint lodged against him(Umeshchandra) by the students on 18-12-2009 at the behest of KV Nagaraj and Bhat.
It is learnt this was the result of Umeshchandra turning down the appeal made by Kaveriappa through Syndicate Member PV Mohan seeking his cooperation to withdraw the case against him(Kaveriappa) in the suspicious death of a university lecturer Sujatha, as the then VC had feared that if proved guilty in the case, he may have to very well forgo his job as well as face arrest.
Umeshchandra says in another instance he had even turned down the appeal made by Kaveriappa to help one of the students hailing from his district and community to appear for the annual examinations by making adjustments as the student was facing attendance shortage.
“If Vijaya Karnataka had published a report against me, then the common intention of Kaveriappa and Bhat had worked behind it,” says Umeshchandra.
