VITTAL : A school teacher of Pariyaltadka in Vittal who fought a legal battle for nearly two decades to secure the post of headmaster due to him,has finally won the battle.
Bolanthimugeru Ramakrishna Bhat, a teacher in Pariyaltadka Aided School in Punacha village, had moved the District Education Appellate Authority in 1992 after Harsha Shastri, son of the school correspondent Ramakrishna Shastri was appointed the headmaster by violating the seniority rules, following the retirement of Manila Padmanabha Shastri on April 10, 1991. The Authority which had investigated the case had ruled in favour of Ramakrishna Bhat and ordered that he be made the headmaster of the school. However the Authority orders were ignored by the headmaster Harsha Shastri and correspondent’s wife Ushalakshmi. In fact five teachers in the seniority list in the school had been waging a legal battle since the past 19 years fed up with the dictatorial attitude of the management.
Recently, as per the court ruling the DDPI had appointed education officer Jayashekhar as the special officer in this case and the latter initiated immediate action and dismissed the school management. On Friday, DDPI Chamegowda, Jayashekhar along with police personnel paid a surprise visit to the school and handed over charge to Ramakrishna Bhat as the headmaster of the school.
Though Bhat who had waged legal battle in different courts since the past two decades, had won his case, the management had come in his way every time, by challenging the decision in a higher court. Finally, its tirade came to an end when its appeal to the High Court was dismissed. The court on January 1 ruled in favour of Ramakrishna Bhat. Odiyoor Shivaram Bhat and Rajeshekhar were the legal counsels for Ramakrishna Bhat in this two decade long battle.
What will be the fate of Shastriji School ?
The Pariyaltadka School Management has been unathorisedly running Shastriji High School in the area since the past four years even when another high school is already existing. The education department has however not approved this school, despite some political pressure. Still, the school is functioning since the past four year and is conducting exams to its students privately in different centers. The Punacha Grama Hitarakshna Vedike has requested the education deparmentto take note of this school as the future of its students is at stake.
