Police Commissionerate to be formally announced on Jan 26

Posted on Jan 25th, 2010 and filed under Local News.

MANGALORE: The Police Commissionerate, which has been a longstanding demand of the people of the region, has been sanctioned for Mangalore and will be formally announced on Republic Day.
The Commissionerate plan could not be materialized for long owing to various reasons though its need was felt in order to ensure law and order in a communally sensitive region like Dakshina Kannada district.
The Mangalore and Panambur sub-divisions together would come under the commissionerate limits. In Mangalore city corporation limits alone nine IPS officers will be on duty. Even as the District Superintendent of Police and IGP will be in their place, there will be appointment of a Police Commissioner, 2 DCPs and 4 ACPs. The maintenance of law and order would be an easy task as even the Commissionerate office will operate from the SP’s office.
The Pandeshwar, Bunder, Kadri Urva, Barke, Kavoor, Panambur, Mulki, Suratkal, Bajpe, Konaje and Ullal stations would come under the Commisisionerate purview.
