MANGALORE : The People’s Union for Civil Liberties has strongly condemned the ploy against the Mangalore University’s Dalit lecturer Umeschandra, by the Vijaya Karnataka editor Vishweshwar Bhat.
Speaking to The Canara Times, PB D’Sa, District President of PUCL said the conspiracy against the lecturer MP Umeschandra, who has always raised his voice for the cause of human rights, by ABVP and some organizations of Sangh Parivar by colluding with some vested interests and rightist groups inside the university, is condemnable.†He also demanded that all baseless allegations against the lecturer should be withdrawn and he be provided suitable protection. He also said that the PUCL would complain to the state and National Human Rights Commission against the action initiated against the lecturer by succumbing to the pressure from the Sangh Parivar.
