MANGALORE : Tension prevailed in Ullal on Sunday after miscreants stoned two mosques and a yatimkhana in Kumpala village of Ullal police station limits in the wee hours of Sunday. The window panes and glasses of the mosque have been damaged in the incident. A 14 year old boy who sustained serious injuries during the attack has been admitted to the Sahara Hospital in Tokkottu.
The incident took place in the Noorani Jumma Masjid on the highway at Kumpala, Noorani Kumpala Yatim Khana and Noorul Islam Jumma Masjid at around 2.15 am.
Hundreds of Muslims gathered in the area following the incident, making the situation tense.
Senior police officials including SP Subrahmanyeshwara Rao and DySP Girish have visited Kumpala. Additional police forces too have been deployed in the town to prevent any untoward incident.
Here it may be worth recalling that at the Hindu Yuva Samavesha held at Nehru Maidan last Sunday, Bhajrangdal’s Prakash Sharma and Chakravarthi Soolibele had several times referred to ‘targeting mosques’, during their speech.
