MOODBIDRI : A female cub of a cheetah, that was separated from its mother, created panic in the town for quite some time on Saturday after it was spotted in a field near the Savira kamba Basadi.
The forest officials who arrived at the spot immediately were successful in trapping the cub. The cub was first noticed in the fields of Ronny Pinto, standing majestically after it had gobbled up a puppy that was in the vicinity.
Several locals now say that a cheetah was seen in the Hosabettu-Todar reserve forest area since some time with its cubs. The cub was earlier spotted in the Venkatramana Temple area but had vanished when the forest officials arrived at the scene.
The cub that was trapped on Saturday was around 4 years old.
