MANGALORE: At last the official announcement has been made. The much awaited day train between Mangalore and Bangalore is now all set to chug off from August 29.
Until August 26, both the railway officials and leaders who have been fighting for the day train were in the dark regarding the commencement of this long awaited train services. In this backdrop Union Minister of State for Railways KH Muniappa issued a clarification on August 26 stating that the railway Minister Mamatha Banerjee has given her green signal to the new train.
In a statement, Padmanabhan, personal secretary to the railway minister said “The Mangalore-Bangalore day train was approved just yesterday. It was only after that the information was passed on to the railway division concerned.â€
Muniappa to flag off train: It has been learnt that Union Minister KH Muniappa would be flagging of the day train at a simple function in Mangalore at 8 am on August 29. There is a possibility that this train which would operate thrice a week initially, would operate on all days of the week in the near future.
