Posted on Jan 31st, 2010 and filed under General.

UDUPI : The Nalku Veethi Nivasigala Vedike of Udupi staged a huge protest in front of the Deputy commissioner’s office on Saturday opposing the’ unilateral’ decision of the district administration in deciding to make Carstreet as a no-traffic zone. The traders in Carstreet too joined the protest by downing their shutters.
The protesters alleged that the district administration decision to close down Carstreet for vehicular traffic was not just objectionable but also unscientific and suspicious and alleged this to be a ploy of vested interests.
Amrith Shenoy, Janardhan Bhandarkar, Madhukar Mudradi, Gangadhar Birthi and others led the agitation.
