KARKALA : Villagers of Belman, Nandalike, Sooda and other places organized a bike rally on Friday opposing the Suvarna Corridor Project which the government intends to implement in the area. Thousands of people participated in the rally which was held from Belman upto the Karkala taluk office. They submitted a memorandum to he government through the Tahsildar demanding that the project be dropped at the earliest.
The agitators wanted to know why the river bank area was chosen for the project and suspected the government actually intended to implement some other project.
They also warned of severe protest in the days to come if the government did not cancel the notification regarding the project immediately.
