PADUBIDRI: Miscreants who stoned the residence of former minister Vasanth Salian at Kaup on Friday night damaged the window panes and a Scorpio car parked in the car shed.
The incident reportedly took place at around 2 am. Reports said bike bound assailants had committed the act. Salian’s residence is adjacent to the Mangalore-Udupi National Highway near Katapady.
Salian was away in Mumbai to attend a wedding when the incident took place. However, other family members were in the house. It is still not known if this was in retaliation to the blackening of Mutalik’s face or an act of miscreants on Shivaratri.
The situation in Kaup turned tense following the incident. Shops and business establishments have also remained closed
In Udupi two private buses have been stoned, one near Indrali and another near the Alankar theatre. Police are maintaining a strict vigil in the wake of the Sri Rama Sene bundh call.
