4 killed in gory mishap at Ankola

ANKOLA : In a gory mishap involving an ore lorry and a Lancer, four persons including three members of a family lost their lives near Sunkasala here on Friday. The deceased were the family members of Dharwad’s renowned contractor UB Shetty. Shetty’s wife Sujatha (36), daughter Rishitha (8), Sulakshana Bhujanga Shetty and driver Nagesh (28) of Dharwad were the victims of this mishap. The accident took place when the family was on way to their home town Uppunda to celebrate Mahashivaratri.
The family had left for Uppunda in two vehicles. Shetty’s son Charitha Shetty survived as he was travelling in another car. The ore lorry was proceeding at break-neck speed from Ankola resulting in the mishap. The lorry driver Santosh Hanumanthappa Kolura of Muddehala has been arrested by the Ankola police who are conducting the investigations.
