44 arrested in Udupi for forcing people to observe bundh

UDUPI : In Udupi police arrested nearly 44 persons who were coming towards Udupi from Malpe in bikes to force people and shopkeepers to observe a bundh.
Reports said a group of nearly 44 youth in around 22 bikes was proceeding towards Udupi from Malpe, raising slogans when they were arrested and the bikes seized.
It is learnt, all the accused were from Malpe and belonged to Hindu organizations.
The bundh call by Sri Rama Sene has evoked a mixed response to the temple town. Many of the shopkeepers preferred to down their shutters fearing any possible threat from the Sri Rama Sena.
City buses were off the roads after a bus was stoned near the Alankar theatre. Yet another express bus which was stationed near the Indrali Petrol Bunk was also stoned.
