KUNDAPUR : The Udupi police bog which had recently portrayed a father –in –law as the husband is in the news by getting itself caught in yet another gaffe.
Now, it has invited widespread public criticism by providing false information regarding a case of cheating. In a case involving cheating a young girl, the blog was reported to have published wrongly the name of a hotel involved in the case.
The blog published by the Kundapur police station states that a case has been registered against a youth Kashinath Nayak who was reported to have booked a room in Hotel Sharon of Kundapur on July 17 and alleged to have sexually abused and cheated a girl named Sunitha in this room. But the fact is there are no entries in the records of Hotel Sharon in the name of Kashinath Nayak. In all probability, Kashinath who had apparently booked a room in a hotel almost resembling the name Sharon was erroneously accused of having checked into Sharon which enjoys a respectable image in Kundapur. This mistake has severely tarnished the image of an otherwise reputed hotel in the town. The management of the hotel is contemplating initiation of appropriate legal action against the blog which had given false and misleading information about the hotel.
How will the Udupi district Superintendent of Police who had issued an edict to the public to approach the police directly without divulging any information to the media lest it is falsely published in the news papers, reply to the questions being raised about the errors committed by the blog?
