Serial mishaps leave NH 17 blocked

MULKI: A series of accidents were reported near Kolnadu mini bridge on NH 17 which has of late acquired notoriety as an accident prone zone, on Sunday.
Several passengers were injured when an express bus coming from Mangalore towards Udupi and a truck coming from Udupi collided head on near the bridge. The injured have been admitted to Chetana hospital in Mulki. The axle of the truck which broke near the bridge is the said to be cause for this accident.
Both the vehicles which were stranded right on the middle of the road had caused disruption of vehicular movement on this road for more than an hour. However the timely intervention by Mulki police eased the situation. This mishap was followed by yet another accident- this time it was a head on collision between two cars in which the passengers of both the cars however had a miraculous escape.
