MANGALORE The Ramya Shetty –Mohammad love affair that had been in the news after the two eloped and the Hindu organizations labeled it as a Love Jihad, has now taken an interesting turn, with Ramya stating before the court that she would stay with her parents. Interestingly the very same girl had earlier stated before the court that she would lead a life with her husband Mohammad Bin Raju Shetty himself.
It is learnt Ramya has now moved in with her parents after her statement before the court. On Monday when the hearing with regard to the case came up before the court, Ramya told before the court “ I have committed a mistake. I have realized that my parents are equal to God. I will return home and live with my parents.†The court later directed Ramya to go to her parental house.
On December 4 last year, Rama Shetty of Naringana in Bantwal Taluk had eloped with her lover Mohammad following which her father had lodged a complaint with the Konaje police. The Hindu organizations meanwhile, labeled this as a Love Jihad case. Soon Ramya’s brother Shivaprasad filed a habeas corpus in the High Court alleging that Mohammad had kidnapped his sister.
Even as the cops were on the look out for the pair they had married in a temple and Mohammad had embraced Hinduism and had become Raju Shetty. They had even joined work in the residence of a political leader MB Sadashiva at Sullia. Though Sadashiva initially did not identify the pair, on seeing their photograph in the newspaper he came to know that they were the pair that eloped and handed them over to the police.
Later when Ramya was produced before the court she said she had married Mohammad who was now Raju Shetty and expressed her desire to lead a life with Mohammed himself. Now the all of a sudden change in her stance has raised many an eyebrow.
