UDUPI : The Udupi town police have until now not registered any case against the accused in the case of encroaching the farm land of a family, for the sole reason that the accused are relatives of State Finance Commission Chairman AG Kodgi. Instead, the cops have
reportedly threatened the complainants and instructed them to end the matter amicably.
Reports indicate that the Udupi town police authorities, in a bid to shield the accused had recently been to the residence of the aggrieved family and threatened them.
It is also said that the Udupi town SI Ganapathi Nayak and some other personnel who had been to the house of the complainants on August 28, had reportedly made a suggestion to the family to let the encroached land to the accused and then purchase some other site. The cops also reportedly told the family to end the matter in reconciliation and also that they cannot keep guard of the land daily. Meanwhile, the complainants who are firm in their stand, have said that they would not let their land and demanded that the police register a case against the accused who not only made forcible entry into their land but also threatened the complainants and felled trees before leveling the land.
As already reported, the family of late Ramanna Shetty residing at Chitpady Hosamane near Indrali Railway Station has been suffering since the past few days after Rajendra Kodgi and Sudhir Kodgi, sons of Chandrashekhar Kodgi, the brother of the Finance Commission Chairman AG Kodgi, forcibly entered their land and felled trees.
Though a complaint was immediately lodged with the Udupi town police, the latter had only acknowledged the receipt of the complaint, but had not registered the same. Following this the family had even complained to the Udupi SP Praveen Madhukar Pawar alleging that AG Kodgi had used his influence to see that no case was registered against the accused in this case. But so far even the complaint with the SP has not yielded any result.
