7 Ravi Poojari aides apprehended in city

MANGALORE: Police have apprehended seven members said to be accomplices of the notorious underworld don Ravi Poojari, near Bendorewell in the city.
Four revolvers, 29 live bullets, 8 mobile sets, 2 cars, 2 bikes and a cash of Rs 52,000 have been seized from the arrested.
Those arrested are : Prashanth Shetty (32) and Satish Shetty (25) of Ambalpady, Sudhir Poojari (22), Yatish Poojari (22), Amrith Karkera( 24), Praveen Carlo (29) of Vamanjoor and Shahul Hameed (26) of Maripalla.
It is learnt, Ravi Poojari had placed forth a demand of Rs 5 crore hafta from two prestigious entrepreneurs in the city. While one of them clearly turned down the hafta demand, Ravi Poojari threatened to finish him off within a week, through his aides. Following who began investigations following the revelations by the entrepreneur, apprehended the seven persons on February 15 near Bendorewell.
The SP who provided the above information at a press meet, said Dinesh Amin who is presently in Mysore Jail was a part of this gang which acted at the behest of Kali Yogish, a right hand of Ravi Poojari. He said Dinesh Amin is behind bars in connection with advocate Naushad murder case and added even a jail employee Mahadevaiah who abetted Amin would be arrested.
IGP Gopal Hosur informed that the prime accused Prashanth Shetty was facing charges of murder and murder attempt. He also said that Shetty thrived as several banks including nationalized banks like Syndicate Bank and Corporation Bank and also the private ICICI Bank were using him as their vehicle seizer. He said notices would also be issued to the bank officials concerned.
