Officials abstaining from BC panel meet to be served notices

MANGALORE : Representatives of various organizations submitted a memorandum to Dwarakanath, the Chairman of the Backward Classes Commission at one of the hearings held at the DC office meeting hall in the city on Thursday.
Natesh Ullal, advisor to the Krishi Bhoomi Samrakshana Samithi k explained to the Commission Chairman the manner in which the land of the poor Kudubi tribals have been forcibly acquired for the SEZ. The Commission Chairman directed the officials of the district administration to take note of the problems of the Kudubi tribals.
PV Mohan, social activist said students belonging to backward classes have found it difficult to get admission to private and aided schools.
Leaders of Chennadasa community, Lolaksha, Working President of Ahinda, and several others submitted memoranda on behalf of their organization.
Later speaking to reporters, Dwarakanath said it has come to the notice of the Commission that contaminated water was being supplied to the Morarji Desai Girls residential school in Derlakatte and that there were no arrangements for medical examination of girls studying in residential schools. He also said that the district administration has assured to make arrangements for medical examination of the students every month.
He also said the DC has been directed to serve notices to the officials of various departments who abstained from the meeting.
