MANGALORE: The Konkan Railway Corporation Ltd (KRCL) is learnt to have written a letter to the Railway Board seeking its permission to extend the present Mumbai-Karwar train on the Konkan Railway route, upto Mangalore, thrice a week.
According to RL Dayas, President of the Railway Yatri Sangha of Udupi, the Sangha has been pressurizing the Konkan Railway Corporation since long to extend the train upto Mangalore. He says the KRCL has now in its letter to the Board has also mentioned about the timings and days of the extended train.
There is the possibility of the new extended train being announced during the ensuing Railway budget. Dayas says the train services would be extended upto Mangalore within 20 days of the presentation of the budget.
The proposed train will have 17 coaches, 10 second class sleeper coaches, one two-tier AC, two three-tier AC coaches, two chair bogies, one luggage van and a guard van.
