SULLIA: Sullia Block Conges Preisdent Bharath Mundodi has tendered has resignation to the post, giving rise to speculation as to who would be the heir to his throne.
Meanwhile reports indicate that there were all possibilities of ZP member Dhananjaya Adpangapya being chosen for the post.
Sullia assembly constituency has been a BJP stronghold since several yeas, foiling the Congress attempt to storm this BJP bastion. Even during the previous assembly elections the Congress candidate lost by a narrow margin here. The lack of unity of the Congress members was said to be the reason for the debacle.
Interestingly, the outgoing president Bharath Mundodi and the aspirant for the post Dhananjaya had strained relationship since some time. Sources close to Dhananjaya even reveal how he did not aspire to be in the limelight as long as Bharath Mundodi was the Block Congress chief.
In latest developments, Dhananjaya is now seen in political functions in the town no sooner Bharath Mundodi tendered his resignation. Even on Saturday, when the block Congress had picketed the MESCOM to protest against power cuts, Dhananjaya made a sudden appearance at the scene, thereby projecting himself as an aspiring block Congress chief.
Sources within the party also say that the possibilities of Dhananjaya being chosen for the block Congress President’s post was high as the High Command has come to the conclusion that he was the ideal candidate to occupy the post left behind by Mundodi who has not done anything significant during his tenure.
