BANTWAL: So far a total of five cases have been registered in the Bantwal town police station in connection with several incidents of clashes and looting reported from BC Road area following a dispute that cropped up during the Dasara sports meet at Modankaup near here on Sunday.
The ban orders that had been imposed in the taluk since Sunday evening, ended on Monday night as the situation in the town has retuned to normalcy.
Police have so far arrested just one person in connection with the incidents. Though it is widely believed that the act of a few in capturing the photographs of some women sportsmen, in their mobile, had led to the fracas, police have denied such a report.
Meanwhile. Bantwal town police station inspector Vivekananda has said that the exact cause of the clashes may come to light when the accused in the cases of riots and violence are arrested.
