BELTHANGADY: A married woman was found dead in a well near her house at Melantabettu on Friday. Meanwhile, locals have expressed strong doubts over the exact cause of the death of the woman.
The deceased has been identified as Rajeevi (35), a mother of three, and wife of Poovappa Moolya. It is learnt the couple were not in good terms wand Rajeevi was staying at her parental home at Indabettu, owing to the harassment meted out to her by her in-laws. Though her in-laws had attempted to get Poovappa Moolya remarried, the couple had united following mediation by elders in the family. It is learnt Poovappa used to harass his wife after coming home drunk.
The family is now arguing that Rajeevi fell into the well accidentally while drawing water on Friday morning. However locals are in no position to believe this and are demanding a thorough probe into the case.
