Several injured in lorry-bus collision

PADUBIDRI: Several persons sustained injuries when a lorry collided against a private bus in its bid to avoid a pothole on the National Highway 17 near Nagaraj Estate, Padubidri on Tuesday night.
The mishap is learnt to have occurred when the cement laden lorry proceeding towards Mangalore from Udupi, while trying to avoid a huge pothole turned towards right hitting the express bus plying on the Mangalore-Karkala route.
The injured included the bus driver also. The lorry driver and conductor meanwhile have escaped from the scene of the accident. Traffic on the highway was obstructed for nearly two hours following the accident. A local person meanwhile helped in clearing the road by providing the services of his JCB machinery to remove the vehicles involved in the accident from the road.
