MANGALORE : The police have arrested Prasad Attavar, State Co-Convenor of the Sri Rama Sene on Monday on the charges of abetting the underworld don Ravi Poojari by providing him the telephone numbers of prominent businessmen of Mangalore. Even Arun Puttila, Regional Convenor of the Sene has been arrested for fomenting communal tension.
If Prasad Attavar has been accused of having close links with underworld, Arun Kumar Puttila has been charged with setting afire several shops in Puttur after inciting communal strifes. Already several cases have been filed against the two in different police stations of the city.
Prasad Attavar has been in the news ever since the infamous Mangalore pub attack. It is said he used to secretly gather information on telephone numbers of prominent businessmen and then pass on the same to Ravi Poojari thereby abetting him in his hafta demand business. Police are to investigate if Prasad Attavar has any links with the anonymous calls which city’s businessmen received earlier from the underworld dons.

Any attempt to contact the Rama Sene leader Prasad Attavar either in the morning or evening will get a ready made reply that “ He is in meditation ;call later.”
Attavar also had a clarification saying “ As I mostly engage myself in meditation these days, I am unaware of the acts of our boys. I will enquire and inform.” It is strongly believed that he was giving the excuse of meditation just to conceal his activities.
Meanwhile Arun Puttila who had joined the Rama Sene after breaking up with the Bhajrangdal, is facing the charges of cheating a temple. He is now arrested on charges of setting shops ablaze in Puttur and for garlanding the Gandhi statue with slippers.
