MANGALORE : The heavy rains that lashed several parts of Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts on Tuesday afternoon, provided the much needed respite to the people from the heat wave experienced since the past several days.

Uppinangady, Puttur, Sullia, Belthangady, Bantwal and other areas witnessed heavy rains accompanied by lightning and thunder. However it only drizzled in Mangalore.

Untimely rains were reported from several places even in Udupi district. Karkala and several other places experienced heavy rains with gusty winds.
