Mazdoor Sangh to launch hunger strike against contract carriage buses

UPPINANGADY : The KSRTC Mazdoor Sangh has decided to launch a seven day hunger strike in front of the Deputy Commissioner’s office in the city from March 22 to urge the government to put a brake to the contract carriage buses by violating the court orders.

According to the Sangh, the contract carriage buses were operating unauthorisedly with patronage of the officials despite the court directing that steps be taken to prevent the movement of these buses. The operation of contract carriage buses was resulting in losses to the KSRTC buses, it said.

The organization has also threatened to go on an indefinite hunger strike from March 29 in case the authorities fail to take necessary steps to prevent movement of contract carriage buses.

The agitation will be held under the joint auspices of the District KSRTC Mazdoor Sangh and the Autorickshaw Drivers’ Owners’ Association affiliated to the BMS.
