1 killed in bus-car collision

PADUBIDRI: The driver of a car lost his life and two others sustained serious injuries when the car collided head-on with a KSRTC bus near Padubidri Beedu on the National Highway 17 on Monday morning. The deceased has been identified as Sridhar Nayak (40), while the seriously injured are Sukumar Uchil and Ashith Bhat.

The accident took place when the occupants were on way to Manipal after witnessing a Kambla at Talapady. It is learnt the deceased was the driver of an ambulance at MAHE. The KSRTC bus heading towards Mangalore from Kollur had collided head on with the Maruti 800. The locals had to struggle to get out Sridhar Nayak who was caught inside the vehicle. However, he died while being taken to the hospital.

Traffic on the NH was affected for over an hour following the accident. Padubidri police have registered a case against the bus driver.
