Posted on Mar 30th, 2010 and filed under Crime/Mishaps.

BANTWAL : Thieves who burgled the Sri Kshetra Kumbodhari Temple of the Kulala Karambera family near BC Road, have escaped with gold and the cash in the donation box.

It is learnt, the thieves made their entry into the temple by breaking open the locks using a pick-axe. The empty donation box has been found discarded outside the temple. The value of the stolen valuables has been estimated at Rs 50,000.

Finger print experts and a dog squad has been pressed into service to help trace the thieves.

Interestingly, the temple is located just a little distance away from the Bantwal town police station. Locals however say that the apathy of the Bantwal police had led to increasing cases of thefts.
